Description: The small estate of Rodano has enjoyed a great reputation worldwide over the past dozen years. The estate was founded in the early 1900's and has been in the Pozzesi family for the past three generations. The vineyards are constantly being replanted with the newest Sangiovese clones and double density vines per hectare.
The Chianti Classico Riserva Viacosta is only produced in the best years. The wine has a deep concentration of Sangiovese flavors of classic cherry and the hint of pistachio nuts. The finish displays the elegance of sweet vanilla from the French oak aging.
90 points THE WINE ADVOCATE:...reveals a powerful, earthy personality with plenty of dark fruit and an attractive sweetness from the oak that comes through on the finish. Already showing some early signs of development, it is ideal choice for drinking today and over the next decade. Anticipated maturity 2007-2017 ~ Antonio Galloni
92 points WINE AND SPIRITS MAGAZINE: Here's an intense and flavorful '01 just beginning to hit its stride. The scents evoke a forest floor in their earthiness, with the dark savor of bluefoot mushrooms. A stroke of tannin closes off the plum skin and juicy black cherry flavor, then the succulent richness of the fruit is back in the end, growing bolder with air. Ready over the next several years.
